Any paid Analytic Solver software license will work for each class -- if you don't have one, an Analytic Solver Academy license gives you free access with our Super 4-Course Bundle!
Analytic Solver Academy is the same software version we make available to hundreds of universities, for use in MBA and undergraduate courses in advanced analytics. For commercial users, it's our lowest-cost entry point to the Analytic Solver family. Its problem size limits are more than sufficient for learning (though not intended for commercial-grade business problems) -- but it includes full access to the powerful optimization, simulation / risk analysis, and data science / machine learning features of Analytic Solver!
Course objective
Gain a comprehensive overview of optimization and its applications using Frontline Solvers software. The information provided in this course will provide the necessary foundations if you are planning to use optimization to address business problems using Solver software.
Learning outcomes
- You will be able to model an optimization problem.
- You will be able to evaluate the results and use sensitivity analysis.
- You will be able to use advanced features such as parametric optimization to study various scenarios.
- You will be able to explain the structure of your model.
- You will be able to use optimization in uncertain situations.
Description of assignments
The grade will be determined out of 100 total points. 10 quizzes will be given throughout the course. All exams are required (total possible points = 53). You can retake each quiz up to 2 times. A midterm exam consisting of 2 parts will be given (total possible points = 20). A comprehensive final exam will also be given which consists of 3 parts. All exams will be comprised of multiple choice and true/false questions. You can take midterm and final exams only ONE time.
Grading Criteria
The final grade will be based on scores obtained from all quizzes, the midterm and the final exam. If total points earned is >=85, your grade will be an A. Frontline Systems offers a certification to students with grade A.
Frontline Systems Certification Criteria
In order to qualify for a Frontline Systems certificate, you must earn an A in the course by scoring 85 points or higher.
